Naturalization of the ascendant and the requirement of "exclusively Italian citizenship": recognition is possible!

Attached is an excerpt from the Consulate's website, which specifically clarifies that: "In the event of reconstruction starting from the second-degree ancestor (grandfather/grandmother), the deceased must be exclusively Italian at the time of the applicant's birth or at the time of his/her death, if he/she died before the applicant's birth."

The Italian Public Administration has therefore written in black and white that, for the purposes of citizenship recognition, the exclusively Italian citizenship of the ascendant must be present at the applicant's birth (thereby rendering subsequent naturalization irrelevant, in line with the decisions of the Joint Sections) or at the time of death if the applicant was born after the ascendant's death.

This clarification helps to clarify the situation for those who doubt their eligibility for recognition.
